Pacu are closely related to pirahnas but do not share the pirahnas taste for flesh, they are mainly vegetarians but due to the huge size they grow to will sometimes eat smaller fish if they dont get out of the way. They grow to over 3 feet long and can be almost as high so need enormous tanks, not a good fish for the home aquarium and IMO should not be made available to the public.

They're also schooling fish, I believe. Great specimens for public aquaria, but not for home.

Yea, and in some cases people can buy a fish and take it back when it outgrows the tank (a practice I am against btw) but these are one of the fastest growing fish so it wouldn't be long before they outgrew all but the biggest aquaria.
