I just recently picked up a pair of p.polleni and I'm looking for some extra information on them. I know most of the basics but I'm looking for some more indepth information. Anything anybody could tell me would be greatly appriciated.

If i remeber correctly. Angelmouse Has a Breeding pair. I do know that they need a large tank ( minnimum of 55g) to be kept in. They are also rare ( i think) and if you ahve a pair, i would attempt to breed them.

Yes I do know they are rare, and the pairs ina 55gallon currently (temp tank) I move in november and they will be getting a 75gallon tank to themselves. I'm also picking up a pair of females in hopes of breeding them :)

yeah Angelm ouse once posted some advice up for me about them as she breeds them apparently. beautiful fish qould love a pair myself

try and get some pics up if you can? :good:

Hi, they are beautiful fish with loads of character, rare and possibly extinct in wild so breeding them will help keep this species in the hobby. P.Polleni are the small spotted variety and P.Bleekeri are the large spotted variety. I kept mine in a 55gal on their own and they bred on a 3 month cycle, they are notorius for eating their eggs so are best removed and hatched in a egg tumbler device and are very caniblistic when tiny. Since moving them to a 6ft community tank they have not spawned for me. They are extremly aggresive with own kind but mix fine with other madagascans, frontosa, other mildly aggressive cichlids and rainbows as long as they are not too small to be swallowed. They love mysis shrimp, prawns and krill with tetra doromin and large cichlid pellets. They are tollerent hardly fish and can live in alkaline or acidic water but mine bred when the water was more acidic.
Would love to see some photo's of your fish
regards Angel

The female of my pair is unfortunatly in bad shape. I traded my Jaguar cichlid for her, and I bought the male. I will get pics up as soon as I can, but my brother took my camera and he lives 2 hours away. As I don't drive it's a bit of a pain.
