Hey guys, I've recently doubled the lighting in my tank, and have noticed small oxygen bubbles appearing on the leaves of my vallis and java fern, this is a good thing right?

TIA

Chris

To expand on what fraservet said yes oxygen bubbles are a good sign. Isn't it something to see photosynthesis in action? Light is usually the limiting factor when it comes to good plant growth and pearling. I'm glad you increased the lighting, and I'm certain your plants are too. Enjoy! :D

Mmm very much so, it's one of my personal axes that some tanks come with substandard lighting for growing plants, as 90% of newbs would probably want plants, my tank's taken off in leeps and bounds since I added another Juwel lightbar, and I anticipate them doing so even more when I can balance out the 3 powerglo and 1 aquaglo bulb distribution to 1 power glo, 2 aquaglo and one sunglo

How many watts per gallon do you have now? Are you adding co2?

ALASKA

The bubbles is refered to as "pearling" and is wonderful to see...

I bumped it up from 60w to 120w, which works out at around 2.6 per gallon on my 45G tank

Co2 is my next step, am currently reading up on the subject
