I currently have 4 ADF's, 4 amano shrimp, 1 RCS and 2 snails. Since buying the amano shrimp ive noticed they produce masses of waste covering the tank floor in days, i dont understand how just these 4 shrimp can create such mess lol.

But i had an idea (as ive always preferred RCS's and my 1 seems to be fine with my frogs), that i could give my amano's to a friend and then buy a nice group of RCS's.

The question being, how many RCS's do you think i could safely have without overstocking my 64L tank?

Thanks.

(This post is already in the 'Other Pets' section but thought it would suit being here too). :)

Ive answered my own question lol.

For anyone interested, the African Dwarf Frog's rule of thumb is 1 per gallon, but in most cases this is not right. For instance, following that rule, you could have 8 frogs in an 8 gallon, which really would not be sufficient. No one seems to have made another rule of thumb from this, but the generosity of more space should be given to each frog added.

As for the Red Cherry Shrimp, people also have different views, such as 2 per gallon and 10 per gallon. The bioload of these shrimp is minimal, so its perfectly possible to have a few of these per gallon.
