hey all, went round my friend from works house the other day to see his marine tank it looked lovely, but as i only keep tropical at the moment (eventually want to get a reef tank one day!) i seemed to think he had alot of shrimp in there and was wondering if it was ok? i know his tank is 215L , in it he has 1 blue tang , 1 peppermint shrimp , 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 blood shrimp , 1 camel shrimp, 5 hemit crabs, his tank looks really nice and his tang seems to be happy but as i say i'd thought i'd see what some of you guys think :fish: oh yeah forgot he had a boxing shrimp in there too

Inverts like shrimps, corals, etc. don't contribute as much waste as fish do. Did he have a sump? These are also used to increase the volume of water and add stuff like macro algae, which help to reduce/eliminate nitrates & phosphates

So when are you getting a mrine tank then? :D

when i can afford too!

 yeah, that's actually pretty far understocked with just one Blue Tang in there :)

that tank is only around 55 gallons, tang police people dont like people having tangs in thin tanks as well as not liking them in 4 foot tanks.

Im not part of the tang police and im not saying its over or understocked, im keeping my mouth shut, sometimes the tang police kinda over does it (180 gallon minimum) and im not too sure what is right and what is wrong....

It isnt about bio-load, its about tank size and the speed of a tang.
