I recently took in some fish just curious of the repercussions I may face, or maybe none all, all fish are relatively small none over 2 inch execpy gouramis exactly 2 inches. I have 2 golden gouramis, 2 angelfish, i molly, 4 neons, 3 zebras, and 2 Chine ae, i tiger barb, most of fish were brought by friend who did tank wrong, will this spike my ammonia? or is it even bad, I know its supposed to be inch per gallon but it is still under for now, so it should be ok for the present right? I know some people will say its not a good combo but maybe because all fish were gotten when really tiny thats why they get along, I mean the molly sleeps with the CAEs in their cave, but is it too overstocked and what can I expect to happen to my water stats? holy crap my wife just said my buddy is bringing 2 small Kribensis chiclids right now because his tank is bad (leaking) am I screwed or not yet? thanks

What size tank do you have? If you are under the 1" per gallon based on their current size you may be ok for now but have problems later.

The more important question is how many fish did you just add and was your tank already cycled before adding them? If you only added 2 or 3 fish to a cycled tank, you may not even notice any ammonia or nitrite. If you added 5 or more fish you probably will. If your tank was still cycling from when you set it up, you will definitely see a rise in ammonia and nitrite. If you do, just do daily water changes to keep the levels as low as possible.

Addressing the longer time scale (since other people have already dealt with the short time water issues) CAE's change their personalities as they grow older, regardless of whether they know their tankmates or not. This is just the way they are meant to be, friendly algae eaters when little, territorial and slime suckers when older. Still, concentrate on the water issues for now, if they are really small chances are it won't happen yet for a while.

I'd say remove the lone tiger barb. They dislike being alone. Also, the barb and the CAE's, as mentioned, are time bombs.

In my opinion you are unlikely to have any significant problems with this setup if you remove the mentioned fish. And no you arent overstocked. Especially if you do frequent water changes. That's actually a pretty reasonable stock level.
