Fish Herder
I was supposed to be getting a new tank from a friend of a friend, well my friend has decided to keep it himself, which I am kinda relieved about
.
BUT
I think it is both innapropriately stocked and over stocked, tank is a Juwel Rekord 60 - 60*30*30cm.
There is a Cichlid about 4 inches long
, 1 Vieltail Betta, 1 Male Guppy, 2 what look like large cory's about 2-3 inches, 1 large Platy about 3 inches and several small platy's, 1 Zebra Danio, 2 Harleys, a few Neon Tetra's loads of platy/black molly crossbreeds including 3 fry about 3mm and a couple I can't identify, in total there's 35 Fish
.
To compound matters, he's moved all the fish IN the tank with just about 2 inches of water in it, took all gravel out and cleaned it and the tank surfaces AND replaced all filter media
I'm nipping round soon with my test kits as he has none, but I suspect he's gonna have massive problems, though he got them last night and has put some tank start stuff in.
I've been maturing a new filter for my new tank by running it in my established tank, but it's only been in 9 days, will this be long enough to use it?
Any other suggestions?
I don't need to know that Danios, Tetras & Harleys like groups and Guppy's and Betta's dont mix, or Cichlids should be species specific as all these fish have lived together for a while, just how to try and prevent a massive case of new tank syndrome.
When my tank is ready, I will have some of them off him and the cichlid is going.
