I went to google.com and typed in betta then hit I'm feeling lucky. It came up to this site. I was looking around at it. It showed pics. of over-weighted bettas compared to not over-weighted bettas. Mine is over-weight. What can I do beside feed it less. My black skirt tetra also looks fat. HELP!

Well, less food and more excercise are good ways to lose weight, and I doubt you can arrange for your betta to get more exercise. I think it's time to put him on a fishy diet! :)

A guy on another group read a study into bettas that if you chase them around the tank with a plastic shark once a day, they actually live longer. I always try to "exercise" my betta since I read that, but he's not scared of plastic fish any more and he seems to have learnt that the mirror isn't another big, scary betta.

Also, bloodworms are apparently fattening and they should be given other food 5 days of the week.

I feed mine those BettaFlakes and another kind of flakes for tropical fish. I must of been over-feeding them, I have feed them 2ce a day. I'm going to start feeding them once a day. Is that ok to all of a sudden change their diet? Haven't done it yet...i don't want to ruin their diet. I also read on that website that you shouldn't feed them at all one day of the week to let their digestive sytem rest? Would that be alright too?

You can feed once a day or feed every other day or make them go one day a week without eating.

You could also just stop feeding for 4-5 days and they should be right back into shape when you continue feeding.

I never feed any fish I have every day.

I think I'll do that(not feed them 4-5 days)!!! I just hope they won't get mad at me  .LOL
