Relative newbie here...
I'm coming off the end of cycling a new (8 weeks) 10 gal tank. It's pretty stable now I've lost no fish lately due to high ammonia etc. The Ammonia is down to .5 and the Nitrites are low too.

I put a new Black Molly in the tank (with two other mollies and 1 pepper cat). The nice lady at the pet store told me the Molly was pregnant. Sure enough, after placing her in the tank I had fry the very next morning! I count over 10! (possibly 11 or 12).

It's been about five days now and all seem very healty.

Questions:
- Do they need special feeding? (i have some live plants to nibble along with food)
- Will these small fry upset tank "balance" much?
- Can I expect most to live? (Do I need to be getting a bigger tank?)
- Any other molly fry tips appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a WHOLE lot of Molly babies..which most are in seperate tanks

I feed mine crushed up flakes 2-3 times a day!! Do you see them getting food when you feed? You might and its a big might lose 1-2, but then again you might not lose any!!!

Do you have alot of hiding places? I would be worring that they will not get enough food...

They shouldnt bother the balance..

If you have a Breeding net that hangs inside the tank you could catch them (and believe me its HARD to catch them LOL) and put them in there, that way you can feed them and make sure there getting enough food...

if all ten of yours or so live and groww big you might need another tank to put in there.I feed mine crushed flake. You can feed them baby brine shrimp though. Most should live and they wont upset the balance at all when they are little but maybe when they get bigger and there is so many in a small tank.Hope it helps

The pet store owner was nice enought to give me a "wad" of "floating" plants (don't know what kind of plant). They like to hid in it. I also have plenty of plastic plants that they hide under.

Will they come to surface and eat? I don't really see them come to feed when I place it there but it doesn't take long for the food to start sinking and "swirl" around.
I see some gobbling up the crushed food as it sinks.

They are also constantly nibbling at the plastic plants, so I'm assuming the're getting enough to eat.
