Just after a quick bit of advice on fish stocking in a 25 gallon tank.

This is what i have

5 Red eye tetras
10 Neon tetras

1 Rainbow shark
2 yoyo loaches very small ATM ( maybe should have don't a bit more research on these as they seem to get quite large and prefer groups)
3 Black khulis

The tank has a good ehiem filter, jager heater with lots of plants natural gravel and Driftwood, also a rock cave.
It should be cycled now as i have had it close to a month.

My main concern was that the neon are not doing what i tell them and shoaling, they are just scattered around the tank.
I did read however that if I got a centre piece fish that is bigger than them he might make them school a bit.
Would this overstock the tank ?
Would like a German blue ram they have some real small ones at my LFS, OR ??

PS have just set up a small ten gallon hospital tank that now hosts 5 guppies this OK for them ?

Thanks everyone PS have done a bit of reading so wanted to finally ask my own question.

Best advice I can offer is on your rainbow shark. These fish get about 6 inches full grown and it has been recorded that they can get 7-8 inches(rarely though). As they get older there aggression will pick up and there territory will widen causing all you fish to be invaders. I have heard of people having them with little aggression at full growth but all those people have them in 50+ gallon tanks. My shark got about 5 1/2 inches in less than year so unless your upgrading I personally would take him back if he starts showing a lot of aggression. And even if he's not, 25 gallons is to small for a full grown rainbow shark.

As far as yoyos go, unless your upgrading I would just take them back. They can get up to 14 inches if im not mistaken and also prefer schools as you know.

I don't know much about khulis but it says they get about 3+ inches full grown and that even though there not social the prefer to have a larger number of them around 6+.

As far as the rest of you fish in this tank it seems fine considering there small size. I would say that you could have the tetras, ram, but I don't know about the khulis( i don't know about this fish). But i would suppose they would be fine. I wouldn't get the ram if you don't get rid of at least of you bottom fish though because I don't think its enough room for them.

So id suggest 5 Red eye tetras, 10 Neon tetras, 1 ram, and 3 khulis

I may be way off base but, hopefully someone with more in site on the individual species and what they need could correct me if I'm wrong and give you better info on your stock list.

Good Luck :good:

.Oh and I think the guppies will be fine as long as you remove any babies they have because they can over populate that tank quite easily

You say ''It should be cycled now as I have had it close to a month''. Have you read any of the threads on cycling?. And have you tested the water yet/at all?. You're very lucky if you haven't lost any fish if you did a fish-in cycle.
