i wasthinking of adding a fluval 403 to my setup as this would alow me to use a whole hoast of diffrent media to controll my water peramiters aswell as giving me lots of extra filtration....

But would it be to much for a 75 (US) gallon tank already running a rena xp2 filter???

As long as you can direct the current so that your fish doesn't slosh around on the crest of a current, then go for it

i have a sprey bar set uo any way so i`ll either rase it above the watter level so most of the force is taken out of the jet, or aim it up/down,

But will having 2 filters that could easily filter the tank on there own be ok?? its not going to cause any problems is it??

I`m not planning on over stocking the tank, i just want that bit of flexibility especialy as i have the fluval sat around doing nothing

No, overfiltration is great - as long as the current isn't massive and the fish seem fine and not struggling to swim around :)

I always run 2 filters that can run the tank by them self. As long as your fish have some slow areas it will be fine.

If you are worried about currents having a negative impact on your fish, then make the second filter a HOB and put a sponge pad on the outlet to difuse the water flow.
