Over Dosing Excel

how much do I add to overdose my 11 gallon to try and rid if of algae?
I've added 3 cap fulls today when do I next dose and how much?

3 cap fulls sounds like a lot! On a normal dose my 47gal would need about 2 (don't dose anymore). After a water change its about 5 1/2. 3 sounds like quite a big over dose for 11 gallons. I am of course not speaking from much experience of overdosing though...

I remember, i think it was Dave Spencer, said to dose 3x stated dose to kill algae.

I haven't tried it, and don't know if that's 3x the initial dose, or 3x the daily dose, or both?

Do not OD Excel, just add the full label rate for the water change routine, 5mls per 40 liters per day.

It is better to dose longer at a lower concentration, this will never kill fish or shrimp, burn plants etc, and will still kill the algae.

In a hurry?
Try this same dosing with 3 day blackout + daily 50% water changes and good cleaning, trimming, filter maintenance etc.

Better to use many small hammers rather than a large one

Cheers dude, I don`t remember that. I have only ever used Excel as a spot treatment for some BBA and staghorn I got when my CO2 cylinder ran out without me noticing. Other than that, I don`t use Excel.

I know some people say they overdose and don`t lose their shrimp, but I don`t feel that lucky, personally.

thanks tom, 50% a day is simply impractical so i'll dose 5ml every day for the next X days?
It does look like I'm winning already though the tanks messy but all the algae is changing colour from greens and blacks to reds greys and browns
also what I thought was spirogoya looks to be totally gone
