Hi,

I have an offer of getting a 48 x 15 x 15 aquarium, with a metal stand.

This is too big for my house, but I was wondering if I could put it out my back garden and put a few coldwater fish into it? along with maybe some live plants for them to interact with.

Would this be possible?? there would always be a chance of the temperature dropping to below 0 during the winter.

Thanks

Keith

Not a good idea as the glass will crack or even break when the frosts hit. Do you have a large shed you could use?

Hi,

I do have a small garden shed, but it would kind of defeat the purpose, as I was kind of hoping to make it a feature of my japanese style garden.

I would like to have a pond, but it is not possible unfortunately.

Ah well :(

Here's a thought ... maybe not a good one though

Could I put a heater in it if I knew there was a cold front coming and set it to something like 10 or 15 degrees so that it would prevent the tank from freezing?

I think you wont be able to predict when the frosts are coming well enough and the heater may not cope with being permanently on through the night and some of the day. I just think its too risky to even try.
Maybe someone can offer some other solution, so i will be watching with interest as well.
