Our WalMart has the most amazing bettas

I have been haunting the lps, and the local aquarium shop. Their bettas have been all blues, wonderful blues, all shades of deep blue to turquoise, with matching fins or with red fins. HOWEVER. I popped in to WalMart tonight, and oh my gosh. Pale pale creamy white betta with coloured fins, one with a gold (really gold) body, mostly the back, with a cream belly and coloured fins. Splotchy blue and red ones. One that was almost all red, a deep blood red, not a bright red. I can't even remember all the colours on all the bettas.
I wish I had a warmer house. I would have bought half a dozen and lined them up in 1 gallon tanks. Sigh. I have been bitten by the betta bug.
I want a loooooong 21 gallon tank that I can split into 7 betta homes. sigh.

I know what you mean. I have the betta bug as well. I have been told, in no uncertain terms, that I don't need anymore betta's...but I couldn't pass one up. He has a white body with fins of baby blue and green. He is in my 5 gal with snails and gups for now til I can figure out what to do with him...lol

J/K, I'm no better than you I have entirely too many bettas,but it's ok

I like Wal-Mart bettas, I know everybodies always knocking them .At least 80% of my bettas were rescue missions, but they're beautiful

I think the reason they're so colorful is because of the suppliers. A lot of breeders try to keep pure color strains...aiming for pure colored bettas,usually blues & reds. The walmart breeders mix it up and experiment with colors ,winding up with some amazing bettas. Only my theory Makes sense to me. 8)

i'm well aware of the addiction as well the living room is pretty much being taken up with tanks and bettas. now that the plakat fry are growing up things are going to get busy around here, we have already "bottled" 15 young males and it's amazing to see the subtle differences in colouration between them. the females too. i look in the grow out tank and there are about 30 more with potential. oh, the current batch too, thankfully it's not as large but there are about 20 - 30 youngsters from the "super delta/double tail" couple that i watch carefully every moment i can as i know they are going to be stunning. yahh, bettas are pretty cool
