Well, Bettabelieveit and I went to the Walmart in Gurnee today... which was absolutely appalling, but that's besides the point. So they have 3 bettas, one with fungus, one that looks decent and one without a tail!! I instantly thought of BettaMomma's Lucky. So we got him... and a fantastic 2-gallon tank for $12.99 at PetSmart. He has about 1/4" of tail, but it looks like it was ripped off on something. Not that he got into a fight, because the rest of his fins look fine (minus a little curling from bad water).

He seems to be swimming around just fine without his tail and has already eaten. His little butt wiggles like he thinks his tail is still there sometimes. Guess we'll give it a few months, a little salt and a lot of water changes.

Here he is!

We'll keep you all updated on his tail-growing progress!

Aw, what a cutie. He looks pretty good for being tailless...quite healthy.

Interesting Taz ornament in the tank, by the way. I think it's adorable.

:) the taz toy is an old mcdonalds toy I had for a long time, I've been putting old toys and things like that in my tanks for decoration, they are so much more fun, and inexpensive than regular decorations. funny thing tho -- Joe (the tailless wonder) bit taz  that was the funniest thing ever!

aww bless him

I agree that he looks healthy even with the missing tail and I adore the Taz ornament

hey, i ocassionally do that too! cept it was a tucan sam that came in a box of froot loops.

Ok, seriously I'm noricing a trend with tail-less bettas from WM. This is more than a coincidence...

The mcdonald toys are a cute idea! Just be REAL sure there is no metal parts on them (hinges, screws, etc) as rust in your tank wouldn't be fun.
