Last summer i took the project on of referbishing an old concreate mess of a pond.I had to relay all the concrete slabs(with the occasional help of my muml), lay the lino ,underlay and everything but it was worth it Neverthelsss i gotta say using a slegde hammer & crowbar on it was pretty fun 8) The part i find most fun is cleaning out the filter every 2 weeks when i go to visit tho lol(pump usually gets clogged with leaves from bushes)
It was stocked with 6 goldfish but these were already ill when given to us (by a relative) with abseces and god knows what else.'Amazingly' every fish in his pond was fine .Anway i have moved all ill fish out into the natural ponds (muddy bottom, merky water but massive!) at the front of my mums (this concrete pond is also round my mums) house to see if they can survive (i was treating them to no effects). The pond atm has 1 small koi and 2x goldfish and is filtered by the smallest, or second smallest green genie filter with a UV.I think i made it out to be 1200 gallons. It's just under 2ft deep so not very good for the winter but it wasn't very harsh this winter so no probs. It's completely shaded by plants which means no algae aswell!
I'll get some pics of the 12000 gallon pond if it's sunny tommorow when all the fish are up and feeding
O and the water is murky there because we had been refilling it with freshwater to get rid of the fish illness (hopefully) + it was the day i cleaned the filter lol.
If you look very closely you can see the whiter coloured concrete around all the slabs which i smashed up and relayed
