Two of the oldest panda fry, almost 4 months old with one of the adults, and my male whiptail

Panda fry in our fry tank, ranging in age from almost 4 months, to only a few days old.

I'm not sure how many we have, but these are only a small group of the fry in the tank, they all dart around hiding whenever you go near them

Hope you like them as much as we do
:D

Wow very nice pics. The whiptail looks awesome, and those cories are so cute, your breeding efforts are coming along well ;). The sterbais are pretty. Great fish all round

Wow what stunning photos and beautiful fish !

I want them all !

Those Sterbai have really beautiful markings too.

Great pics Carmen, those little panda babies are adorable. Love the sterbais too - they have lovely markings!

Your red whip boy is lovely, still don't know the sex of mine. Do you think they are maybe too young? Neither have any hairy bits on the face or fins like the other pics you took. I love these guys, they are so funny. Mine like to hang off the tiniest leaves on our wisteria, and they are so small and light the leaves don't even bend. Just wish we have a camera to take the pics rather than the phone.

Ooh, might have to come and steal those adorable panda babes when your not looking!

Hi AlexAndCarmen :)

Thanks for sharing the photos of your lovely fish with us. :D

I think all cory fry are cute, and your pandas are no exception, but those C. sterbai are absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks all

They really are lovely pets. Don't pick on anything and are giving me so much joy, especially with the breeding. I got the sterbai from 2 different LFS's to widen the gene pool. Just hope they will breed for me one day. :p

Bex,
I think your whips might be too small to sex still. I'm not too sure how big they need to be, but if you do see any hair, then it would be male. My females are the same size as him and have nothing on them.

Oh, there is an alarm system and guard dogs surrounding the fry tank, so you'll have to be stealth like to get any out  .

:D

I'm so jealous of people with Sterbai!!!! Sterbai are my absolute favorite (right next to Trilineatus) but they cost too much for me right now, arghh....

Thanks Captain Retardo

I know what you mean. The sterbai can cost so much and I have seen them for sale at ridiculous prices. Luckily we went to quite a few LFS's and found them cheaper. Not that the 5 were cheap, by no means, not compared to pandas or bronze cories. But they were reasonable enough to purchase.

I also love the Trilineatus. I want to get some of those too one day. I've seen some at one of my LFS's and have to stop myself every time. I've almost convinced the hubby, but really don't have space for them yet.

:D

Well I'll be breeding my Trilin's hopefully sometime before the end of this year! I could give you some if you wanted, but too much of a hassle to ship it to the UK...

I love the orange fins on the side of sterbai, really adds a lot of color to their intricate pattern

Luckily though for me, I know of a fish club/organization thing that has fish auctions twice a year! Next auction is October 8th, I have seen 5 sterbai go for $18, and other fish go for low prices! (P.S. To get my Trilineatus's I had to pay $5 for them each, so it cost me $30 (yeesh! That really emptied my pockets! Luckily though, I'm getting a job next year!!!) but it was the only place where I have seen Trilin's and they were very healthy also!)

From time to time, both wild caught and tank raised C. sterbai appear on the market. Usually the wild caught ones are big and beautiful, but are often harder to get adjusted to local conditions. The tank raised sterbai are usually smaller, less expensive and might well be easier to breed once they mature. :D
