Our New Tropical Fish Tank ...

well we had delivery of our new tank on a crate by a massive lorry
my face was a picture when the drivers refused to bring it in and said its a roadside drop i was like OMG HELP lol ..

we got it indoors ok and started unpacking only to find it had NO INSTRUCTIONS !! ..
hmmmmm not good .. we e.mailed the seller and they basically didnt answer to us being us thought hell why not lol ..
we put it together ourselves !!

the new tank we have got is called a sunsun cylinder 147litre tank ..
the reason we got this tank was the size problem .. the previous tank we had was a regular normal tank rectangular and sat on my sideboard but we have done a complete re dec in our front room and ditched everything to replace with new ..
after measuring we decided on getting this tank and it looks fantastic .. i have heard alot of negative comments about owning a cylinder tank however we are ONLY planning to keep small fish ..

the tank is by sunsun and is a 147litre cylinder tank with black hood and base ..

have any of you got the same tank ?? ..
or similar ??
how have you found it ??

i admit it looks fantastic .. but sounds soooooooo LOUD !!! .. im so disappointed in the aftersales care .. we paid alot of money for this and it didnt even come with instructions , how BAD was that !

i think we have it all set up properly now .. it has a remote control which lets you control the tank which is a nice touch ..

at the moment we have a few fish looking to add some .. which fish would YOU add ?

you could put a pair of angels seeing as its just short of 40 gallons, should be more than tall enough imo.

ok i know it looks bad and how we ultimalty should of waited a few days etc etc Yes there are a few fish in there from our old tank .. they are pretty old now .. but seem to survive anything !! . i mean we cleaned our old tank RIGHT out numerous times and just re filled with water and treated it .. then put them back after a few hours .. they are bionical !! =)
on a serious note though they are pretty old now .. the fish we have ..
so was wondering on what fish to have once they finally go to fishy heaven ... was just asking now so i had a fair idea ..x

the remote control .. well on this model does not come off the tank apparently in other models it does .. you can manually work the lights , filter , temp control .. or have them all on a timer ..

btw thats not the temp of the tank now lol .. =)

Why would you want to "control" a filter
ON/OFF........ Switch to ON and leave until you do water changes etc.. Then back to ON

Lots of bubbles going on in there, will make the filter noisy.
Is it a power-head type filte?

yeah its a power head which connects to an external panel filter which is under the lid. The remote connects into the multi socket and controls each socket individually so can turn each one off if needed for cleaning etc

Seriously, though. Read the topics on cycling. Even though your old fish seem robust and able to handle a lot, you still need to make the transition as smooth and painless as possible for them. A new tank is never ready for fish until the filter bacteria have built up and that could take weeks. Just leaving the tank a few days or moving across the old water won't do jack.

That would be best if possible - OP, if your filter media from your old tank is still wet, put it in your new filter!

From what i can see in the photo, it looks like the filter is quite powerful and is both producing an unnecessary amount of bubbles and stirring up the tank a lot. So its a good thing you can turn it down, because the fish will like less noise at night and less movement in the water.

Also as I'm guessing the tank is about 3ft high by 1.5ft wide so there is actually quite a few fish you can put in there at this size so long as they are not too big and have some hiding places (plants, scenery etc).

I would recommend guppies, platys, neons or similar size tetras, some plants that will grow tall such as Ambulia and a couple of corys, but don't forget to stabilize your tank slowly when making changes.
