Hello,
I have a mature Eclipse System 6 tank that houses 1 betta for the last year. The only roommates he has ever had were 5 ghost shrimp about 6 months ago. They up and just died all at once about 6 weeks into owning them. After a good cleaning He was back in the tank alone.
I am currently fighting what seems to be an uphill battle with Algae. I am getting Nice rich green algae on my drift wood and slimy greenish-yellow on the walls and silk plants. I have no real plants in the tank as I don't think I have enough light.
My roommate says to get Pleco's. They get so big but he says when they do just trade them into the shop. I would rather get somebody that will become a resident and not just a hired hand. I was thinking Otto'f fit the bill. What do you think? Could 3 Otto's and a Betta get along well enough? Can a 6 gallon hold these 4 fish? Would just 2 Otto's be happy or minimum 3? Any tips on how to avoid their rough introduction to the tank?
I am afraid of using chemicals so I am up for anything short of that. I look forward to your suggestions.
Jason
