Hello i had got 3 ottos a while ago to clear my tank and they have done a great job, but that's the problem. they have run out of algea to eat (although there is still some visible)

I have tried feeding them a brussel sprout and a bit of spinach, but they dont eat it.

I have heard of pelets but i can't get some for a while, so does anyone have some tried and tested veg to feed the otto's.

thanks for any help :good:

Did you blanche the veggies before you tried to feed them?? Try blanched courgette and cucumbers. They love those. They'd also eat algae disc's. Sometimes, my females eat prawn pellets, but that is normally before they start spawning.

Good luck. Have you got any pics of your little guys??

;)

Mine absolutely love cucumber. Just make sure you remove it after a few hours though!

Yeah cucumbers great, you don't need to blanch it though for oto's (you can if you want but it doesn't make much of a difference), just remember to weight it down with something though otherwise it'll just float around in the tank (plant weights or a stainless steel spoon pushed through the flesh is good).

I put cucumber in and it hasn't been touched, Iv'e had it in for two days so ill take it out now.
But why was it not touched shall I just keep putting it in or is there another explanation?

p.s thanks for the help and soz for another question
