Oto's mouth damage and another one dead.

I found one oto dead and another one with the mouth damage, the most aggresive fish i got are the dwarf gouramis. What could have cause the dead of the OTO who has been there for 3 months and how did the other one got injured, any ideas welcome.

What kind of substrate? They like small non sharp substrate cut it could damage the barbels (or whatever those things sticking out it's mouth is called). Also, Gouramis can be aggressive. I had an opaline gourami chase around a jack dempsey.

ger, otos don't have barbells. They have sucker mouths.

I am not sure what could be wrong. Could it be mouth fungus or another bacterial infection?

Oh. Well, I read somewhere you gotta use the right substrate or they hurt their mouths.

But they have been on that substrate for 3 months and only now they got problem. Should i change it to something different? I am using normal gravel. mmm maybe the rocks were the anubias are planted. still i am confuse

Look over the mouth area closely. Do you see any fungus or anything?

Nope no fungus, but the whole area is red and the guy not moving much
