Otos Are Pooping

my new otos are pooping. does this mean that the bacteria inside their stomachs that digests food is present in sufficient amounts to ensure survival? or do i have to wait a month before i can relax?

I would feel this is a good sign. But I tend to wait to see if their stomachs have increased in size. I also like to add some squash to the tank to help feel them in the beginning.

i have a small slice of zucchini (blanched, floating) in the tank at the moment, but the otos haven't touched it, nor have they touched the algae wafer.

Weighing veg down may make it more appealing for them.

Try a plant weight, a small piece of steel cutlery or buy a Screwcumber.
