I noticed a while back that my oto in my small tank likes cucumber but not zucchini or green beans...i think that's all I tried.

Now I'm seeing that the otos in my big tank also much prefer cucumber to zucchini. They never touched the zucchini, but are all over the cucumber. Any one else have a similar experience?

NOTE: I have also noticed that my Green Fire tetra in the new tank love the cucumber as well. I don't think the one I have left in the small tank goes for it much. The Ember tetra don't even notice it, but the Green Fire tetra pick at it off and on all day. Interesting.... I really love these Green Fire tetra- very active, not scared of anything and interesting to watch.

Zucchini can be a bit more fibrous than cucumber... maybe that's it? Cucumber is also more...aromatic, we'll say. I'm not sure how much fish can sense those scent compounds, but it could be another contributing factor. Interesting either way. I'll definitely experiment with the two when I eventually get my otos.
