i came home this afternoon and i was going to move my 3 otos from my 5gal to my 15 but when i looked in the tank i only saw 2 so i took all the objects out thinking that it would be under someting but no there was no oto. i have no idea where it is ive looked every where could it have been eaten be a betta and 2 otos in a day??

have you checked inside and under the filter?
have you checked under every plant/decoration?

yeh i took every thing out and the filter is a bubble powered one so there is no where to be sucked into

we've just lost our 8th one - compleatly randomly

you may have had one die and its been munched...

Anything big enough to eat a dead oto in there?

Thats weird i dont think a betta and 2 otos could eat it in one day

maby they burow under and gravel and die :S

Hmm It's poosibal they were inside one of those decorations and you just did'nt notice. Or he could be decomposing in your bettas stomache. I hope you find the little feller soon!

I have had 2 of them completely dissapear as well.

I have no idea what happened. In BOTH cases I saw the sick oto, then left the room for less than 30 minutes. I was coming back to put it in a bag to take it back to the LFS, but it was GONE.

One time I left the room to eat breakfast (less than 30 minutes), came back, no trace.

Second time I left the room for no more than 10 minutes, no kidding, when I came back it was gone. NO trace of it anywhere.

It is only a 10 gallon tank, I took out the plant and rock, dug through the sand, checked the filter, no trace of either one anyway.

Really, I think oto's vanish when they die.

I've asked this before and gotten no real answers,
Sorry,

I have a similar problem with my Khulis. Until today, I was only positive 3 were in there but when I did my check on them (they're in quarantine), I saw all 5 of them. I have found one in the filter outflow before but that seems to have been a fluke. Where the other two went is a mystery. Maybe they went on a honeymoon or vacation or something. Wherever they went, they're back. Your Oto might end up returning out of nowhere just as mysteriously as it disappeared.

My two oto's have been 'missing' for over a month now.

Anyway, on the same topic, sadly I had an oto die today. The wierd thing is, he didn't disapear. This was the first oto I have ever seen dead. Every other one disapeared after I noticed they were sick.

I bought four otos just under a month ago. One died (saw him laying on the bottom on his side)...one dissapeared about a week ago and another has dissapeared in the last couple of days!

I haven't taken anything out to search for them, and I do have a cave where they could potentially be - but why they would hide there now and not before I don't know. So I'm assuming they have been eaten :(
