Fish Addict
I feel the need to share my bad news with my fellow betta lovers. Otis committed suicide on thanksgiving. He somehow managed to weasel out of the 1/2 inch space near the heater 
I'm mad at myself because I was laying in bed that night looking at his tank wondering why I didn't see him. There is a plant with large leaves that he hides behind sometimes. I thought he was probably hiding in the back. The next morning when I went to feed him he was gone. If I just would have gotten off my lazy bum the night before, I could have saved him
The upside is that Cletus now has the whole tank to himself. I decided not to replace Otis.

Don't feel too bad, for all you know he was probably gone already, or he very well could have been hiding and then went later in the night
