Ok I never fed my fish anything other that flakes. What else can they eat that I could find in my house? If so like do you know any brands of the food idem that would be the safest?

Certain types of fish can eat lettuce leaves, and blanched vegetables such as peas or squash, but not all fish. you will really need to research what your individual fish species eat in nature. Never give fish people food, except as stated above. Your LFS will also have a nice variety of foods available, like freeze dried inset larvae or worms and even fresh or frozen brine shrimp, again, depending on what kind of fish you have.

It is good to feed your fish a varied diet of flakes, live/frozen food and vegies...........I feed my fish flakes but break it up by feeding them vegies and I have feed my fish zucchini, squash, cucumber (their favourite) and even strawberries.
:fish:

That is my tropical fish (tiger barbs) and also my goldfish (black moore & fan tail)

My Betta I have only ever feed him his special little Betta pellets

I agree with Thirdfloor "you will really need to research what your individual fish species eat in nature" just make sure you check what your particluar species of fish can eat :)

As mentioned, specific foods suit specific fish; but this thread touches on the subject in greater detail-->

Ok I will research. These are the fish i have in my community,

2 Mickey platies
1 red wag platy
1 blue apple snail
4 x-ray tetras

Will this help?
I heard that they need a verity diet but I wasn't exactly sure what to feed them. I don't want them dying on me.
