OSCARS VS. JACK DEMPSY

55 gallon tank & you had to pick one, which would you go with and why???

I have to decide between the two, so your resone are important to me so that I can make a good choice.

JD. more colorful. very personable too. also more uncommon than oscars which i think get bland as they get bigger
 
Not an oscar because a 75 gallon is much better for them, most will outgrow a 55 gallon.

I agree with MegTheFish here. An Oscar has the potential to become so big that it cannot turn around very easily in a standard 55.

Get the JD. It would be happier than the Oscar IMO.
 
i have to go with the JD, also for the size reason. nothing makes a tank look sadder than a fish that can barely turn around inside it.
 
If it wasnt for the size of the tank being 55 gallons, i would of wanted an oscar. But since its only a 55 gal tank, i would get a jack dempsey. I used to have really nice jack dempseys, but i got rid of them because of my lack of tank-space.

I like oscars, only if you have the right size tank for them.
