Simple question this time... Will it work?
I have a 4 foot tank with 3 small oscars in it (about 2-3 inches long each). I have two Silver Sharks in another tank which are about 3-4 inches long. Can I put them in the same tank?

For those who followed my last post, two of those oscars will be going to another home when they get bigger

For a single Oscar and Bala sharks you will need at least a 5x2x2 tank i'm afraid.

O's can reach 16" and Bala's 12-14", Bala's are also very active fish and need as much free-swimming room as possible.

Unfortunatly, you need a tank minimum 180gallons IMO for the oscars alone, bala sharks won't be good in a 55gallon tank, they're too active, and 1 oscar in a 55gallon tank with balas is an even worse idea I'm afraid... Your best bet would be to get a 200+gallon tank if your serious about keeping these fish IMO...

Ok, thanks for the advise!
Looks like my Bala sharks are going to find a new home!

Now, considering how slow oscars are, and how much waste they make, I think a 55 gallon with exceptional filtration is good for one adult oscar. However, It would mean bi-monthly maintanence, possibly more. But If I had a 55 gallon, I'd get an oscar and name it Oscar. I'd love to have one, they have tons of personality, like big, slow, aquatic, kinda mean puppies. The seem like a good companion if you ask me. And long lives on these fish too. I'd love one for the 14 - 15 years it would be alive.

IMO, after a year, one Oscar should be kept in a minimum of 75g tank with at least twice weekly wc's of 15-25%, possibly more depending on what foods/how much is fed.

Oscars are definitely a great personality fish. You should try one out if you ever get the chance, you won't regret it. :)
