Oscar's Diet And Growth Rate

Just wondering what a typical diet should be for a juvenile 2" Oscar? Currntly feeding him Tetra Prima twice a day and then some frozen live food twice a week also.

And also what kind of growth rate should i expect? I have read about an inch a month?

minnt , i put mine in 2 weeks ago , am feeding tetra prima 3 times a day , (sparingly ) and a frozen cichlid mix , regular water change and am in complete shock at how much he has grown in such a short time good luck

1 cichlid mix every other day they devour it !! oscar is always first to feed as soon as i open he lid !! followed by he jds !! , you think thats to much !!??

No idea mate, thats why i am asking I'm very aware not to over feed, but don't want to under feed either. My Oscar is always eager to feed and would probably eat all day if i let him! He is currently in with 2 Jade Eyeds, 2 Bristlenoses and a L001 Plec So not currently over stocked. Will be upgraded to a 5x2x2 early next year though.

Yeah i use that site quite a bit for finding various things out. So 3 times a day is the right way to go.

i have never fed over twice a day with an oscar of any size

i guess it depends how quick you want it to grow i guess

Not fussed about the speed, just want it to be healthy. Think i will stick with twice and up the frozen food to 3 cubes a week. Sound good?!

I feed my oscar twice a day, never have fed him anymore than that. Feed cichlid gold every day, goes mad for it. Feed live worms once every two weeks, feed a frozen cichlid mix twice a week and lance fish every three days. He also loves that (they're already frozen and bought in a shop so its not live feeding)
I'd say a growth of 1 inch per month is a good average, but it depends on what your feeding them too, how often and how much.
I also put peas in the tank for him and he rams food into his mouth at a serious rate and does get constipated at times.

Saying that, I'm selling mine as I'm just wanting that tank for severum and don't have the others set up as yet.
