Oscar friends

Other agressive new world cichlids, Silver dollars?, oddballs such as eels and bichirs, big plecs, and other various big fish

They like rocks and caves

Would be a good idea to render your rocks and caves immoveable

anything that is big and they won't dig up, thats why it's hard to keep plants with them, they love digging up the substrate

The oscar and plecos are being moved to a 35G. The lady has been keeping them in a 10G ( ) and she asked if she could have my old 35G. I immediately said yes, and told her that she actually needs at least a 75G. She said she will set up the 35G for them as a temporary home until she can afford a 75G or bigger.
I don't think she plans on getting any other fish for a long while, but she was curious.

Oscars are a real whimpy cichlid and can get beaten up really easy, there just pigs thats why people think there tough, but there far from it.. Sevs are the number 1 tank mate, as well as convicts, i say only them cause there the only that wont pic on him. I have a Blood parrot with mine and he gets picked abit but nothing to bug him.. how big in the tank?

Hi,vip i have been keeping oscars for nearly 6 years and i cannot put anyother fish in the tank with them as they bully them really bad.as for rocks and stuff i have no plants in the tank as they don,t last long, and the rocks in there tank they move around to were they put them. :( sadly i lost my male oscar a few weeks ago and i have now intoduced 2 severums into the tank with the female oscar and they do seem to be getting along fine.So maybe it is ok to put other large fish with one oscar and not a pair

wow, ive never heard of a such a agressive oscar, my ones bully the con and sev, but as soon as my blood parrot get involved the oscars are sent packing big time..
i once put my midas in with my oscars! you know what happend there dont ya! dumbest thing i ever did!

ive only have heard of one agressive oscar online and it belongs to someone named scott. hes on other various forums. i think its called collossus (sp). the thing killed all sorts of tank mates and he has vids of it showing its dominance. other then that, they just eat anything they can fit in their mouth

Just seen a guys Oscar tank which along with about 15 oscars (yes I said 15) also had Pacus, parrots, and various plecs and catfish.

Tank was huge though, at least 6x 2 x2ft and possibly even bigger than that!!

He'd been keeping them for years with no problems, his huge bucket filters looked larger than a swimming pool filter system though!

thats a 180 gallon tank...you cant keep half of the fish you just listed

Well he is, and has been for a few years. He has some very nice looking fish in there and the Oscars range in size from 5 inches to fully grown, and look in very good condition. Some of the tigers he had were gorgeous! And he has four huge Eheim filters running on the tank so the water is crystal clear. It really is a sight, and although it goes against all the advice given he seems to have found a way of making it work, with no fish suffering as a result. There is even a full grown blue gourami in there that gets left alone as well as three parrot cichlids!
I wonder if the fact that he has so may fish in there means that aggression is spread around and is not a problem.

The kribs I gave him looked ridiculous compared to that tank!! (no they didn't go in THAT tank!!)
