it seems that my oscar (white covered in large black spots) turns a pale white from time to time. some times he will be a bright white with jet black spots, and other times he is almost completly white and his spots turn a very light grey.... this happens and then 5 minuites later he is back to normal. does it reflect his attitude or well-being in any way??? thanks.

every thing is neutral in the tank and dosen't flucuiate that much at all. the temp may change a 1-2 over night but it's pretty much always in the same spot

When I turn on my lights in the morning, the fish are gnerally apel. Some of my fish will also get a little paler when around certain things in the tank. Frankly, my female dwarf cichlids have looked paler since I switched form gravel to sand, but they are just blending in a little better now.

If the fish isn't stressed (clamped fins), is eating, and the water is fine, I wouldn't worry.

Sometimes they will be more pale when they're chilly in the morning especially.

thanks for the info guys! i think the same happened to my chichlid when i first bought him ( it was green and black, but when i got it home it was kinda pale, but he's good now!) this is what i was suspecting. i'm glad theres nothing wrong with him!
