I left a message last week on the breeding forum but got no responses. My oscars laid eggs last week. I didn't even know their sex until then. Actually both could be female. Well the eggs got eaten, so I dont' need the info ASAP. Has anyone here bred oscars? Can you leave me some info on them? I have books about oscars and read alot online, but I never see any details about breeding. My fish are about 2.5 years old, and about 10-12 inches. Any advice, suggestions, or past experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Welcome to the forum, Mayo. :)

Just so you know I'm not ignoring you as I was going down the line of threads above yours, I'm at work and have to log off now but tonight or tomorrow if noone else posts to help you out I'll give some info for you. :)

Any and all suggestions or advice from people with experience would be greatly appreciated. You can only read so much. WOuld like to hear from some people who have actually bred oscars.

Mine did the same thing when I had oscars in the tank about 6 years ago. They would lay them on the giant rocks but there wasn't any male in the tank to do what he needed to do. We would have placed a male inside of the tank but you would have to get it the same size as the female and that would be hell because she was so large and so old...

Well, I do have two of them. I bought them 2 1/2 years ago. They are about 10-12 inches long. One is normal tiger and the other is an albino tiger. They have always liked to dig. But last month I decided to lay a piece of slate on the bottom, and that is where the eggs were laid. I believe they ate the eggs. I was told this is common at first. I would like to hear from those who have successfully bred them, and how they did it.
