Oriental Firebellied Toads

Looking at others pics on here they are semi aquatic

If i sloped gravel up one side and along the bottom, then put some de-chlorinated water in so most of the gravel slope is out of water and put something like a log in the water, would this do?
With filter of course.

Yeh as long as they have land area where they can come completely out of the water..
You cannot keep them with fish or other amphibians as they secrete a toxin from the glands all over them which is highly toxic to fish ect..so make sure you wash your hands thoroughly after handling them..
They love live mealworms,waxworms,crickets ect.

As LiveYourLife said so long as they have a land area they will be ok; you can get floating logs, turtle/reptile docks etc which would do.

Also yes, make sure you wash your hands after handling (as you should technically do after handling any animal).

Did you like the look of them then? I think they look really nice; although I've not seen one in 'real life' only in pictures.

If you want more info there is a newt and salamander site (it also has a large section on frogs) it's www.caudata.org I joined for info on my newts and it's really useful.

Just wondering about these really
In one of my books it says they are not aquatic
What people feed them on

they need access to water, and a fair amount too. they also need kept in groups.

not true, though a common miss conception. they are indeed toxic to fish, but the fish need to eat them. these critters do not give off a poisonous cloud every where they go. and, if you can find fish that like the low water levels, they will live happily ever after. assuming the keeper does not mess up! :hyper:

Ahh, sorry. their skin is toxic, thats all. if swallowed by a human, the human would die. but you can rub them on your skin, even face, with no ill effects. avoid cuts though lol.

they are not even immune to their own toxin. this simple fact, precludes them from giving off any of their toxins into the water.

hope this help with your confusion!

Oh yes its a gorgeous frog, i might eventually end up with some lol or if my current fish all die off i might get some then :shifty: lol

Hi, I have a question. They stock these at me LFS and I'm wondering what their minimum tank size is? Thanks.
