I have been cycling my 55 gallon for about two weeks using the fishless method. However, I am already tired of waiting. So, I ordered Biospira on yesterday. They will ship on Monday and I should receive on Wednesday. I will test that it is working by adding ammonia. If the ammonia levels drop within 24 hours, I will test again, then I will add fish.

Here is what I am thinking of stocking with:

2 angels
12 cardinals
1 red tailed shark
3 panda corys

Does this look ok? Any suggestions? I'm trying to have fish that will occupy all levels of the aquarium. And, I wanted one good schooling fish. Thanks!!

cardinals are like neon tetras abit so don't no about them with angel fish, plus i don't no if the red tailed shark, how he will get on with the angel, don't wan't him nipping at the tails.

From what I understand about Bio-Spira from reading their website and reviews is that it will not totally eliminate ammonia and nitrites but keep them under .5 ppm while the tank is still cycling. Will be interested in the results so please post your test results after adding  I have been thinking of setting up an aquarium to test it on without fish.

Personally i would avoid the shark and get either a group of corys or a group of khuli loach or zebra loach, the sharks usually get agressive with age and he would make all the bottom of the tank his territory so you wouldn't be able to add any other bottom dwellers.
