I posted not tooo long ago about these Tertas I got from the store & not knowing the true name of them. After some of your help I found out that they are Orange Von Rio Tetras
So I did some research on them & went ahead and read the topic about spawing (was not planing on spawing them)
it said about having the right temperature and feeding "Live" Food to condition them to spawn.
I had totally forgot that I had previously had a problem with Larve of some sort in my tank. I had'nt seen them in a while since upgrading tot he 55 gallon so I thought I eradicated the problem... Guess not though because I have seen my rios spawing!!! And I though heh!! and I read they needed live food first!!
int hat moment I saw a larve doing it's thing (wriggling towards the surface) and here come a Rio and "swipe, in one instant the larve was history" then the rio went about his mating ritual again.
I have now seen about 4 or 5 separate matings between my rios, they are spilling the eggs out during their dance together. It's pretty amazing to watch!!
but does anyone have any advice as to help the babies get a fair chance?? If any make it I would like it to be with the least help from me as possible as I am already helping some fry out from a Molly that unexpecdley gave birth on the way home for the pet store, my breeder net is in use.
I do have lots of live plants in the tank, but only two species that would be suitable to hide babies; soem Hornwort & some kinda moss. should that be ok?
I was think of perhaps making it denser by buying some more hornwort because it is not that dense right now.
Oh and also I have 4 Ghost Shrimp in the tank and I would bet they are making a good meal out of these eggs as well as the Rios.
Thanks.
