Hi,

I was at my LFS yesterday and i seen some small orange looking severums. I cant remeber he price but how big do they get?and wat size of tank would you need???????

And wat type of fish can go good with them???

Thanks:Garett

Orange severums, could either be, gold or red spot gold, either way, they can reach 12" and are very stocky fish, therefore a minimum tank size is 75 gallons, generally they are a peaceful enough cichlid and are more territorial with other severums than other species of cichlid.

They can be housed (in suitable sized aquariums) with a wide range of fish, from Oscars (125 gallon tank minimum) to corydoras. Have a look thru the species profile on this site or the pinned topic 'Severum Appreciate Society' in this section for lots more information.

You'd look at a full grown Sev and think, "OMG, that monster must be aggressive.",and then you see one the same size in peace with a small guppy. They can and just might eat fish they can eat but, I've seen Sevs in with fish it could easily eat.

No, as stated in previous post, minimum tank size for a severum is 75g.

nope im afraid not mate 75g mimimum . as that little 3 inch sev will become a big 9 to 12 inch beastie

As you have a smaller tank you may wish to consider som dwarf cichlids. Try this link, its not loaded with info if you find something that takes your fancy you can google or ask here.

Hope this helps
