Orange Sailfin Mollie showing signs of Dropsy & Popeye

all other tank inhabitants happy(no med issues and water is perfect regarding ammonia nitrates and nitrites)

what could of caused this

NOTE-Tank has been treated with Betta Tonic Salts and previously API Stressguard

filter maintance done yesterday and added bio bacteria balls to filter

any advice welcomed! cheers-Fishyfun&fans

Non of us knows what "perfect" might mean to you compared to us, so it helps to give the test numbers when you can.

In addition, the GH and pH and temperature are very important, even crucial for mollies, so if you can tell us these numbers it will really help.

Why are you using "betta salts" and what exactly are they? Stressguard I know, and do not recommend using it.

the tests are preformed by my LPS and the colours have always been the right shade on the test strip 0ppm nitrate 0ppm ammonia 0ppm nitrite PH nutural ever since the first one after cycling
and betta tonic salts is a brand of tonic salt used to create brackish water and in higher concentrates eliminate external parasites and fungus infections

temp at 27celcius

Have you tried adjusting your pH up? I do know that my Yucatan Molly's do best in slightly more alkaline water. I keep the pH in my Molly tank at around 7.

Also go easy on the salt, I know that Mollies are are said to be really brackish fish but they seem to prefer less salinity. I save the salt for a treatment for any light illness so it provides a larger impact when needed.

Would (should) be higher.

Remember the Golden rule when adjusting your pH: Go SLOW, very small increments.

isnt 7 ph neutural? my water is at 7ph

14 is very alkaline and 1 is very Acidic

i studied Chemistry :)

i live in a hard water area also and mollies prefer that to softer water apparently

as if that guy just posted exactly what i did lol!

Mollies like hard water. Hard water is typically alkaline. Get a settled tank of correct hardness before you worry what the pH is. Chances are making the water hard has fixed the problem pH.

Is the the tank in your other thread?
My set up is a 16litre Superfish tank

occupants are 6 assorted mollies 1 gourami 3 guppy fry(1cm-2cm) 2 small loaches

If it is, the problem with the molly is probably caused by water conditions. This tank is far too small for any of those fish, on their own :(
