Hello, i was in my LFS today and i saw some of these Orange Lazer C. Aenus Cories. They were beautiful! I wanted to get some but they were $12 a pop. Is that a reasonable price or not?

That sounds about right. The Orange Laser C. Aeneus are not very common at this point and still can be very expensive. If I saw some for that price I would get them, I would probably pay even more. I have been looking for them for a while with no luck. Did they have any of the Green or Red lasers?

Nope just Orange. They did look quite good, but i really dont want to pay that much for 2 of them so im gonna pass on them.

Hi love_fish :)

That's an excellent price for these unusual fish. I've only seen one of them locally before and that was going for $15.99.

If you happened to see them at Magic Isle in Centereach, I saw them too, last night. I think there were only 3 in the tank, and I just posted about them in the Nassau Aquarium Society forum where a few members were interested in getting them. If you want them, I suggest you get there as soon as possible because they might not be there long.

BTW, if these are the ones, they looked healthy and I would have bought them myself if I needed to increase my school.

If you saw them at another lfs, please let me know which one it was so I can pass the information along to others who want to get them.

:D

Yea, i saw them at another LFS. Its called Brians Aquarium in Rocky Point. I've never been to Magic Isle, but i might go there today to check it out because everyone told me it was a good LFS.

Oh, i dont know how many of those cories they had, i think they had like 7 or 8. So if they want them, they might want to get there today.

Actually, dont tell them lol. I want to go today and get 2 of them. Well, i gues you can tell them, but i hope theres still some for me to get.

Hi love_fish :)

Thanks for the information. What I'll do is wait until this evening to post about it so that you can have plenty of time to get there first. ;) I've never heard about that lfs because I seldom get over that way. Do they usually have many different kinds of corys? Perhaps I'll have to try to check them out some time.

Good luck. I hope you do get them. They are beautiful and will be a great addition to your tank. :D

Yes, i got 2 of them. They're so pretty. You might want to tell them now as there are only 2 of them left, and they're only open till 5pm today.

Umm, they usually do have a fair amount of corys. Last time i went there (not today), they had pandas, juliis, trilineatus, bronze, albino, schwartzi, agazzizis. IDK what they had today as i went straight to those cories today. They arent a big place, and half of the place is for other pets (dogs, cats etc) but they do have an ok amount of fish, and a somewhat knowledgeable staff.

Thanks for letting me know about them. I'll go and spread the word right away.

It's a good thing you got there early. :D

Yea, i got there right when they opened. If i had more money, i woulda bought the rest of them. I love those little guys, im acclimating them right now. I also bought some bloodworms for them (and my other fish) too.

Hi love_fish :)

I posted about it, but I don't know if anyone did. It's just a small, local forum so the members there may or have not even seen it yet.

How have yours settled in?

They're doing great! They hang out with the other bronze cories and schoal together. It looks so cool when they shoal with the the regular bronze cories because they stick out. They also love the coconut caves a lot! Even though they cost a good amount of money, they're definetely worth it.

Oh, i do have a question about them. They dont always stay ont he bottom of the tank. They like to swim in the midsection for a little bit then go back down. Is this normal for them to do when they're first introduced to their new tank?

Hi love_fish :)

Someone else has recently told me theirs do the same thing, so I don't think it's a problem. Mine didn't do that, but are still more jumpy than my other corys. The smallest disturbance around their tank and they are off the ground and swimming. Perhaps they will settle down in time.

I've found that keeping nervous corys with others that are sedate will often calm and reassure them that there is no danger. The orange lazers are wild caught fish and they have been through a lot on their way to you. As long as they are healthy, they will be fine.

OK, they look healthy to me, so i guess time will settle them down. I'll try and get some pics up soon.

I think its normal for cories to swim in the mid-sections of the tank. Mine do it all the time and its not just the C. Aeneus. My C. Melini seem to do it all the time too. I have a lot of tall plants in my tank, maybe thats why they like to swim, to investigate the plants. The bigger/older cories never leave the bottom, so maybe its an age thing? The other cories do spend most of their time on the bottom though.
