ive just noticed my gourami has started to swell it seems to be inside the body of the fish down near the tail, like a lump or something. is it anything serious or not

first of all, how long have you had the gouriami? i think and this probably isnt true but i think that when gourimis swell up its because they get old. what kind of gouriami is it? my friend had 2 for a couple years and they had the same thing. one of them died and they were really old so that might be why. does he seem to be unactive or anything sick looking?

i think they are golden gouramis i got two of them one is about 2 inch long and the one with the lump is alot smaller, so i wouldnt say it was old,it is just sitting at the bottom of the tank doing nothing

is the lump at the topper part of its body? cuz my friends honey gouramis had that and it had fry a few weeks later ;)

Is the lump stationary or moving? Is it staying the same size or growing? Sorry for the questions without an answer but in order to help you we need as much detail as you can give. At first blush i would guess either a cyst, which may or may not be treatable but may not harm the fish either, or a worm under the skin. that is why i asked if the lump moves over time..Keep us posted.

the fish died :byebye: :byebye: i only had it a week :/ . i took it out of my main tank and put it in my smaller one but sadly it died, the lump didnt get any bigger but along the body was all red as in photo marked (B) .THE LUMP IS MARKED (A) sorry the pictures not very good
