I love orandas they just have so much personality :) I have tried to have them in the past but never had any luck. I was hoping someone could tell me what I was doing wrong. They kept getting swim bladder disease. This was about 7 years ago so I'm sure some things have changed. I had a hob filter plus two power heads with an undergravel filter. I had a 38 gal tank with 3 orandas. I did 60% water changes every other week and fed greens and flake that I soaked for a minute so it would sink instead of sitting on top the water. I would love to try again but the thought of having to euthanize them for being sick is so painful that I'm scared. I have a tropical tank, 55g very good success. I have even had salt water and never lost a single fish. My true love is orandas and black moors though. Any advice, does anyone have personal success with them? thank you, Jaime

Don't think I've had any personal experience with them myself, but so long as the fish are well cared for I cannot imagine you should have any issues. That 38G was overstocked IMHO. Ideally, 60+ gallons would have been better for them with there being 3. Why did you have to anesthetise the fish?

yeah i kept them a few years ago.i lost 1 once due to swimbladder too.i found that just feeding them sinking pellets (not flake) and a few peas every 3 days they never got swimbladder again.
