Fish in the wild are exposed to a wide range of temperatures, both on a daily and seasonal basis. Depending on the time of year my C. pygmaeus will be kept at temps between 70º and 78º with no deleterious effects and they spawn year round. - Frank

OK the two tanks are at the same temp and been stable overnight, the new tank has fresh chlorinated water. My plan was to bag the 6 adults up, have the fry in net in tub, take some of the water out of the new tank, add some from the old tank, then float all fish and acclimatise to the new tank water (checked stats and perfect). Does this sound good peeps? Dont want to shock them! :good:

EDIT: Not sure if worrying too much, I know there wont be PH shock but thought perhaps different compositions?? )

Well all are transferred across and with my partner keeping the kittens at bay for once it wasnt too traumatic
Here is their new domain:

The fry seem to be doing so much better in that net, I keep finding them though so it is definately more than 8 now :hyper: I have an enrmous box shaped net breeding trap for the next phase. They are currently on first bites. (hope im doing ok! )

EDIT: Just counted and have around 22ish :good:

Thanks Harlequins (especially for the moral support and crazy lady talking to you  ) Here is hoping they make it to adulthood, next week they will be 2 weeks old.

Well mini update, have about 14 going still, still keep finding one odd dead on morning rounds, they are still in the net at the moment. Trying to think whether to put them in a large box breeder trap I have but stretch some tights over to have smaller netting (as currently relatively large holes with its current netting). They are now on first bites, wondering also whether to ground some frozen bloodworm or such.

Sorry you lost a few ,i did also so i know how you feel.

You could try putting them in your breeder box,or a tub floated in the tank, using a magnet or pegs to keep it from moving around, with a small airstone, has long has you keep the bottom clean and change the water you should be ok :)

you could try ground up bloodworm or defrosted baby brineshrimp is pretty good :)

Thanks lots hon! :good: Due to the trouble with fry at the beginning, expecting the losses  Thanks for all the help
