120 gallon tank , 2 Emperor 400 filters with bio wheels , 2 400 max power heads.

Well, hopefully someone (davo?) who knows will come along and comment. I know that most oscars get crazy big, I just don't know if 120 would be too small...

no one has a opinion on this? I have a oppurtunity to rehome the catfish if i need to, i really like them and would like to keep them however if they wont do well i would rather get rid of them.

What are the dimensions of the tank?

An established pair of oscars should work in a 120G but with 2 individual Oscars there is a high risk of them turning on each other once they mature

Also for some reason large cichlids like to bite the barbels off pictus cats so probably best not to keep them together IMO,
Hoplo Catfish would work well though

One Oscar and a slightly smaller cichlid would be best for that tanksize IMO

i wouldn't have the two oscars if it was me unless they were a apair in which case other fish may get harmed when they breed. I am not sure about the filters as i havent come accross them. I you got rid of one of the oscars you could get some more fish for the tank

You know Davo, something just clicked when I read this...

I had two Jack Dempseys years and years ago who lived together for a long time but then one died and when I think about it, it was probably a case of them finally reaching that maturity point and one just killing the other.

I always learn so much on here, sometimes even when it takes a long time to sink in

Glad i could be of some help,

JDs can get really mean when they mature (way more than oscars) so it wouldn't be suprising if that was what happened,
