Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any opinions on the best on line Aquarium Retailers, who they are and why we should use them. I can't seem to find that many, no matter how long I search.

Cheer's Steve..........

By "Aquarium retailers" do you mean places that sell live fish? Or just aquarium supplies? If you mean fish - I don't think there are that many places out there, but one that I really like (though haven't ordered from yet, is AquariumFish.net. That is one of the few places I would feel safe ordering from, they have a wonderful site. You could also check out LiveAquaria.com.

Hi,

Lots of people on here seem to use trimar http://www.tropicalfish.org.uk/ - I think they're based in cornwall but they do online ordering. I have never used them myself but they seem popular with those who are 'in the know'!

Hi Platypus,

Just had a look at the site, a little bit unorganised and unprofessional to say the least. But thanks anyway, any help or advice is always appreciated.

Hi tf,

Yes I know what you mean it is a bit haphazard! I have heard good things about it though, see this post for more info. I suppose just because they don't have a webmaster doesn't mean they don't know their stuff about fish! :p Or let's hope so anyway!

Let me know if you find somewhere good I have had v bad experiences with my lfs and would love to order online if it was reliable.

I have made several purchases from aquaristikshop (http://www.aquaristikshop.com) and overall I am satisfied.
They have a vast selection of items and good prices.
It is a German based company.

i have put a thread in @ buying and selling pls take alook

NOTICE I CALLED IT tri mart was confused on name

also site is completly all over the shop for newbie to fish keeping was even harder as i dont no all the names of fish and stuff when searching for them couldnt find the fish

also notice there are no pics of the fish which would really hope as i dont no wot most fish look like

but seems much much cheaper then my lfs even paying 10 pound postage
working out the fish to the wieght buying a few its much better for me

and more choice (did you look pics of shop) no way could they have sumthing like that going so long not be good with fish

ACTUALLY TRIMAR....THE COMPANY IN THAT LINK ARE VERY GOOD AND ARE ALSO VERY HELPFUL....I EMAILED THEM LAST NIGHT N GOT A REPLY WITHIN 10 MINUTES.....IF I HAD TO PICK ANY TO USE I WOULD USE THEM.....IVE JUST ORDERED A DRAGON GOBY

IMO you cant go wrong with ordering from Trimar, the staff are more than helpfull, they recently held £90 worth of fish for me for two weeks with no deposit and just a agreement by e-mail that i wanted them, they were the last specimins they had of those particular fish and they could easily have sold them at any time. Also they go out of their way to find rare/unusual fish for you that you cannot find anywhere else, just takes them a couple of weeks normally.
When the fish are dispatched they arrive exactly when they say they are going to and all the fish ive had have been in excellent health. Also cheaper even with the postage than buying fish locally (for me anyway), i will continue to use them whenever i feel the urge to hunt out some of my "wishlist" fish.

I really like Drs Foster and Smith. Their prices on aquarium equipment are the cheapest I have found anywhere and they carry all the brands like Marineland, Whisper, etc. I could browse their web site for hours. :D

thanks platy

lol tried for 20 mins to do that then give up hahaha

 he he! You have to copy the link to the page you want BEFORE you start replying, then when you are replying just click on the http:// bit at the top of the reply page and paste in the link.

Erm just read that back and realised if you don't know how it's probably much easier said than done! ;)

For anything to do with the aquarium world other than fish and the cheapest you can find anywhere-

If you want to buy cichlids contact cichlidmaster. This guy is the greatest and I have no doubt in my mind that he won't deliver what he says and in the best condition!
