Serious betta breeders show. You can't find a better place to start than the International Betta Congress; http/www.ibcbettas.org/pages/

They have member's sites on the left side, often members are selling some really nice fish. They are often oriented towards a certain type or color.

From what I've seen on Aquabid, many times, if not most times you are shipping through a transshipper. This gets expensive fast. If you can find a local breeder, or at least one within your country it will cut out this additional shipping cost. You also have an experienced breeder you can contact with any future concerns.
