Hello all,

I have reasently put 4 corys into my tank. One of them keeps lodging itself into a tiny gap in a pile of pebbles i have in my tank. It seems very shy. I only put them in the other day. The other three seem to be actively swimming around and seem okay. I dnt think he is ill but i am worried that hiding away all the time is an indication of something wrong.

Any ideas.

another quick one. I am feed in them catfish pellets and a flake food. Will they eat cucumber too. I was gonna thrw in some for them but not sure if they will take it?

No to the cucumber, unless they are starving. They will eat the pellets and flakes. A good bottom feeder tab or disk (such as Hikari) and some blood worm or such, fresh or frozen, would balance their diet/nutritional needs.

The hiding Cory could just have been more stressed by the move. He may have been injured also in the moving he has been through. It is not a positive sign, but not necessarily an indication of sickness. Fish that stay separated from their group and stay by themselves hiding is an alert to possible trouble. If he is just stressed, then he is at risk of getting sick. Keep the tank maintenance good, so he is at less risk of infection from a lowered immune system. Don't mess with him and keep the lights low.

Just checked on the cory again. He is out of his hiding place and out and about. They sometimes split into two's and then the one who is on his own goes off now and again. He is feeding well and seems active now. Mabe it is just his personality?

He doesnt look ill as far as i can see.

That is excellent news!

He may have taken the moves harder than the rest. And who knows what he may have been through getting to you? But it sounds like he is recovering. If you don't let the cat paw at him, the kids grab at him, or put off tank maintenance fot a couple of months, he will most likely fully recover and become the normal Cory we all love.

BTW, How about some pics?
