please help me, one of my male platy is eating all of the food in the tank before my other platy and tetra can get to it, no matter where i put the food he finds it all before the other fish! he isnt any bigger than the others, infact he's quite young but none of the other fish can do anything but stand by and watch as he munches up all the food

What type of food are you feeding? If you sprinkle flake on the top this will give all the fish a chance to have a go.

im using micro pellets at the moment cos i've got a biube and if u put flake in then it will probly jam filter, thanks for advice though, i'll use it as a last option

seriously thank you so much, that really relieves the tension 'phew' :hyper:

btw ive got some shrimp in there too, do u think they'd be ok if they ate flake, i heard theyre not meant to eat too much fish food as they will grow too fast but....

Not a problem, I started out with Biorbs. Quick tip also. You can clean the filter sponge (with tank water) instead of buying the filter kit, will save you a fortune and will keep the benificial bacteria going in the tank.

Sorry just saw your edit. I've never kept shrimp myself, maybe somebody can help you on that one.

ok, thanks for all the help, im sure there'll be someone who knows stuff about shrimp, havent had them long only about 2 weeks

feeding them a little flake seems to work, the platy is too distracted to notice that his foods being eaten  thanks for all the help!

I'd agree with the flake, also maybe try crushing some of it up a little smaller.
That's what I had to do with my angel - he was eating all the food before my other fish even knew it was there XD
By crushing it up it sinks faster, so the slower fish could get to it while my angel stayed near the surface to eat.

thanks i'll try that out too, does anyone have any tips on how to get shrimp food to my shrimp without fish eating it first, the food is a sort of pellet btw -_-

i use a pair of tongs (like litter pickers) if i ever want to 'place' food somewhere. i usually just chuck in as my fish all wait for different food to get thrown in.
