Terrible luck with my fry this time. About 40 Cory Fry died over the past week since hatching. I’d sometimes find 8-10 dead in the morning. Same tank I always use, same care, watched parameters. All I can figure was some type of bacterial issue. I have one lonely 10 day old albino fry left. I moved him to breeder basket in main tank. Now he won’t eat. Do you think he has a chance if I release him in with the other cories (juveniles) and cherry barbs? I think he’s too big for them to eat. Ideas?

Do you have almond leaves or something like that?

@mbsqw1d are you suggesting to put the leaves in the bottom of main tank for fry to hide in?

More because the tannins they leach have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. NC always talked about adding alder cones which I think was for this reason. But yeh, also make good hiding spots, AND they promote growth of microbes that break down the leaves, which fry can feed on

I have some leaves in breeder box for food to collect on. I had alder cones in nursery tank. I put sand on bottom of breeder box too. Do you think I should clean that daily or add a ramshorn snail to eat leftover food? I’ve never done the breeder box style so welcoming all suggestions. He’s swimming all over in the mesh box wanting to go in with the big boys. Just a little nervous to let him out yet. Only 11 days old. :)

I think a snail would be a good idea and just collect snail poop. I think key is good flow across the breeder box/net. Mine was positioned at the output of my spray bar.

Thanks! I have an air stone right next to it and see bubbles going in. Snail in too so “Solo” has a friend. I wonder what happened to this group? So odd. :)

If you fed these guys brine shrimp it could be that, that has affected the fry.
Many died before brine shrimp were started. I doubt that was the culprit. I will not get off on that argument with you again. :)

Update: Solo is still going strong in the breeding basket. Fingers crossed!!! I am going to breakdown the nursery tank and bleach it. Time to start from scratch on the tank. :)
