LOL, I didn't want to hijack Pointy Kitty's thread 
But I got a purple female today too! 
I wanted to start a thread but...I'm somewhat ashamed of myself when I get new bettas 
It's sad when you honestly have no idea how many you have 
What can I say ...
Anyway, I had to go to Petco today to return a 50.00 item that I had no receipt for, so of course I got store credit
I picked up a few silk plants and wandered over towards the bettas and they had a lot,they all had clean water and looked great. Much unlike the little starved filthy refugees I usually buy
There was NO reason to get a betta...except that darn store credit So...they had the cutest little chocolate male, I had to have him and this gorgeous crazy colored guy
Coincidently I've been getting rid of my divided tanks, no more split 2.5's...they're just too hard to take care of properly, everybody has their own 1g and a lot of them are in single 2.5's now. So I had plenty of empty tanks since I've been buying tons of those 1 gallon KK's at Petsmart.
Anyway, I dropped the new guys off at home and ran back out to Walmart where I was appalled at their betta display. I found ANOTHER cup with TWO bettas (one dead) and I threw a fit and made them change his water on the spot
But....I was looking for a female and..awwww...there she was. This little bitty PURPLE girl 
I griped to the manager that I shouldn't be condoning his actions and buying their bettas, as I put her in my basket.

And in my defense...with the exception of the little DT female I bought a few weeks ago, I haven't bought a new betta in a loooong time
