I could be totally misinformed, but I was told that panda cories like the water a little cooler than bronze. My petstore talked me out of getting some pandas for my tank with that explanation. I have no idea how accurate that is.

Ill have to read up on it :)
hope not although i have a 15 gallon i can put the bronze's in and put the pandas in the 20 gallon?
how many could i put in that tank though?

You can put lots of pandas in that tank, especially if you take the bronze out. Check with your store. Find out where they are from. If they are from a local breeder--go for it and be glad to get them. If they are imported or from a fish farm, don't invest very much. Wild caught are good, but if they are a batch of fry, it is unlikely that they are wild caught.

Pandas can be a bit more sensitive than other Corys--especially the fish farmed ones. Those tend to be overbred and interbred. They are much like puppy mill dogs. Don't pay very much for them.

yer i have pandas (3) mixed with 3 other corys, like a tiger sort of print (not sure of name) Kept at around 26'C with other fish and they've always been fine!

You are fortunate. Many, many buy them repeatedly and never get any to live after getting them home.

well ive moved the bronze cory's will be getting some pandas!
possibly a group of six they are bred by someone in essex :)
so will be investing in them :)

wicked, i wish you well!
It's a shame others havn't had success, they're such a cool little fish!

Good news! Yes get at least 6!

There is a thread on the board now of a member who has tried repeatedly to keep some pandas. If you stay around long enough you will see a theme develop.

That sounds good. You will have litte C. panda all over the place before you know it. Once they start spawning, they will do it on a regular basis

Like Jollysue said, just keep up with the tank maintence, and you should be fine.

as a betta breeder these guys will be my little cute pride and joys!
:)

Pandas can be slow maturing, especially compared to Bettas. It can easily take a year for pandas to start breeding, but once they do, like Barracuda said, they will spawn regularly for you--for up to 20 years! Presumably those are of some reasons the fish farmers chose them, along with the fact that they are cute as the dickens. Sadly the fish farm practice has weakened the aquarium strain of pandas. Hopefully the breeder for these started with a good stock.

I look forward to pics! :hyper:
