Well, I can't find my camera, but it looks like a tadpole, with large eyes, large head and tapers down to a tail. It has no fins whatsoever and it's orange in color. I think it's got to be a platy fry. This morning, I just found one hanging on the front of the thermometer. I'm sure it will be food for the other fish.

So what do I do to keep it alive and what do I feed it???

Get a net breeder from you LFS, I feed mine crushed flake and brime shrimp about 2-3 times a day.

What fish do you have in your tank? I ask only to check; it will almost certainly be a livebearer fry; it's just that they're normally swimming around rather than hanging; that sounds more like an egg layer fry.

Keep it in a container in the tank; one made of net or mesh is best, or you'll be having to change all the water at least twice a day, but something like a large ice cream or margarine tub with lots of holes in it will do the job. I used to rest my normal catch net on the bracing bars of the tank and keep them in that.

Pop a bit of plant in there to give it some cover and feed it ordinary flake food, but ground down really, really fine. You'll almost inevitably overfeed, plus fish produce hormones that stunt their growth over a certain concentration, so frequent large water changes are very important for it to grow well.

Best of luck with your new baby!

I have dwarf gourami's, tetras, platys and balloon belly mollies. It's now swimming in between some bioballs that I have floating around on top. I think it will be safe for the moment as the bioballs are 1 inch big and have a lot of gaps in between them. I will be off to the LFS to get some kind of breeding net thing.

Waaahhhhhh :-(

In between the time I went to the LFS and came back, I think the fry has been eaten because I can't find him anymore :-(

Boohoohoo... Where is the uncontrollably crying emoticon?

Nevermind, there'll be more along in a month...

Could just be hiding, I lost all 3 of mine for 4 days but they were just hiding.
